Writing to persuade is done by:
  • Stating your opinion
  • Giving details or reasons that prove or support your opinion
  • Concludes by restating your opinion in different words.

THE SITUATION:  A relative of yours will turn eighteen next month and will have to register for the draft.  He is wondering if he should register as a conscientious objector or not.
You are now a prisoner of war.
  • Research information about the camp you are in.  Look at Student Weblinks, etc.
  • Make a 16-section book, which will be a diary that records sixteen days of events in camp and events of the Civil War.
  • On the outside of each strip should be the date of the diary entry.
  • The diary entry can be written underneath each strip.
  • Make your entries interesting and as "real" as possible.
